Introducing Nancy DiPalma
Nancy is a life and wellness coach, counsellor and personal trainer
She is passionate about empowering her clients to embark on a healthy and balanced lifestyle journey with the support of her person-centred and integrative, therapeutic style. Nancy’s ‘inside-out’ approach means that she works respectfully with the mind and the body of each individual and unique client, always following their lead.
Nancy’s story in her own words …
I decided to take the big step of launching my personal training business in 1992. It felt like my destiny, where I truly help others.
Over the years since I have run weight-loss workshops, wellbeing retreats, personal training programs for individuals and groups, and offered life coaching.
In 2010 I undertook a Diploma in Transpersonal Counselling. For those that are not familiar with the term, transpersonal counselling is a holistic approach that values the entire person. In counselling sessions, talking, thinking, meaning-making, feeling and expressing emotions, as well as creating life strategies are all part of the process. The work can also move beyond the personal to the spiritual, for those that want to go in that direction but that is completely up to the individual. The essential principle is to be holistic, to approach healing from the ‘inside-out’. Transpersonal counselling views our experience as both personal and sitting in the context of the bigger world around us, in all its dimensions.
I have also worked as a volunteer for a number of years with the Good Samaritan Inn, a refuge for domestic violence victims. This work is about listening to the person’s story, about all that they have gone through, and accessing their innate strength; empowering them by instilling hope. I have grown a lot through doing this work. I sit with the vulnerability of the women I see. I get in touch with my own. It is a rich and moving experience. In 2013, and unbeknown to me at the time, I was nominated and then ultimately awarded for the Members of Parliament Volunteer award. I was overwhelmed and humbled by the news.
In my work I blend my core therapeutic skills: personal training, counselling and life coaching to help my clients.
In my personal life I am still very active and I have my own personal yoga and meditation practice that I am committed to; every day. I love to cycle and jog. I continue with my strength work, always, and when I do, it sometimes takes me back to memories of my father doing push-ups in front of the fireplace. I recall his courage and strength and his dedication to looking after his own wellbeing. I continue to be inspired by these memories from my childhood.”
